Amanda Allen Shot and Killed by Gregg County Deputy During Traffic Stop

Gladewater, Texas — October 6, 2025: Authorities identified Amanda Allen, age 43, as the woman shot and killed by a deputy with the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office following a traffic stop near the 1100 block of East Broadway Avenue in Gladewater.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop after suspecting that Allen was involved in drug trafficking activity. Investigators say that when officers approached, Allen allegedly attempted to flee in her vehicle and struck a patrol car during the encounter. Deputies then opened fire, striking and killing her.

The Texas Rangers have been assigned to lead the independent investigation into the shooting, which remains under review. No deputies were reported injured during the incident.
