Abuzar Zaidi killed in two-car accident on Route 14 near Dean Street in Woodstock
Woodstock, IL. – Abuzar Zaidi, 33, has been identified by the McHenry County Coroner’s Office as the Elgin man who died in a multi-vehicle collision in Woodstock on Sunday afternoon, February 16.
According to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened around 3:15 p.m. on Route 14 near Dean Street.
Zaidi was driving a 2018 Mercedes-Benz eastbound on Route 14 when he attempted to pass a vehicle pulling a trailer and collided head-on with a 2017 Toyota 4 Runner.
Zaidi was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 43-year-old Wisconsin man driving the 4 Runner was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. His passengers, a 13-year-old man and an 11-year-old girl, were taken to local hospitals before being airlifted to a different hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A 43-year-old Wisconsin woman riding in the SUV was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
More details about the accident were not released.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
