Authorities said at least three people were injured following a truck accident Monday afternoon on South Harbor Drive in downtown Portland.
Portland, OR.- At least three people were injured following a truck accident Monday afternoon in Portland.
The accident occurred on August 3 on South Harbor Drive.
Authorities said a semi truck hauling grain collided with an SUV, causing the truck to overturn and spill grain across the northbound lanes.
All three injured people were transported to local hospitals. Officials said they were alert and speaking with first responders at the scene.
A witness reported the semi truck appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed on Market Street before failing to negotiate the curve onto Harbor Drive. Investigators said the collision flipped the SUV and sent the semi truck across a median before it overturned.
Five fire engines and two ambulances responded to the accident.
Fuel also spilled onto the roadway, and firefighters used absorbent material to contain the spill.
Naito Parkway reopened around 3:30 p.m., but South Harbor Drive remained closed in both directions while tow crews removed the overturned semi and cleared debris from the roadway.
The accident remains under investigation.
