Authorities said five people were injured following a three vehicle accident involving a car, box truck, and tanker early Tuesday morning on Route 113 near West River Road in rural Will County.
Braidwood, IL.- Five people were injured following a multi vehicle accident Tuesday morning near Braidwood.
The accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on July 21 on Route 113 near West River Road.
Emergency crews responded after receiving reports that a person had been ejected from a vehicle.
Responding crews found a box truck in a ditch, a passenger vehicle lodged beneath the rear of the truck, and a tanker truck in the front yard of a nearby home.
Five people were transported to area hospitals with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
The driver of the tanker truck declined medical treatment.
Authorities said the tanker was transporting a soybean product, but its diesel fuel tanks were damaged, resulting in an estimated 150 gallons of fuel leaking into the yard.
Environmental personnel and a contracted hazardous materials company responded to assist with the cleanup.
The accident remains under investigation.
