Troopers said a 67 year old man was killed after a pickup truck and a semi truck collided Tuesday morning at the intersection of U.S. 231 and Harrington Road in Fountain.
Fountain, FL.- One person was killed and two others were seriously injured following a truck accident Tuesday morning in Fountain, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. on July 21 at the intersection of U.S. 231 and Harrington Road.
Troopers said a Nissan Frontier was traveling on Harrington Road when the driver attempted to cross the lanes of U.S. 231. Investigators said the pickup was struck on the driver’s side by a southbound semi truck.
The 67 year old Altha man became trapped inside the pickup following the collision.
Emergency crews attempted to free the driver and provide first aid, but he was pronounced dead after medical personnel arrived.
A 39 year old woman and a 7 year old girl, both from Altha and riding in the Nissan, were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.
The 55 year old driver of the semi truck sustained minor injuries.
Traffic delays were reported while crews managed the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
