Authorities said two Illinois State Police troopers were injured after a stolen SUV struck their squad car Tuesday night in Cicero.
Cicero, IL.- Two state troopers were injured following an accident Tuesday night in Cicero.
The accident occurred around 11:52 p.m. on July 21 at the intersection of 14th Street and Cicero Avenue.
Investigators said a stolen SUV struck the troopers’ squad car, causing it to overturn.
Both troopers were transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Authorities said the collision was not the result of a police pursuit but occurred as the driver of the stolen SUV attempted to flee.
A third vehicle, driven by a bystander who was not injured, sustained heavy front end damage.
One person was taken into custody, and charges are pending.
The accident remains under investigation.
