Troopers said one child was killed and another was injured following an accident involving a FedEx box truck and a dirt bike Tuesday afternoon on East Midway Road in Fort Pierce.
Fort Pierce, FL.- One child was killed and another was injured following a truck accident Tuesday afternoon in Fort Pierce, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred around 3 p.m. on July 21 on East Midway Road.
Troopers said the collision involved a FedEx box truck and a ProTaper dirt bike.
Investigators said the FedEx truck driver was traveling southbound from the driveway of 606 East Midway Road and onto the sidewalk when the collision occurred.
The dirt bike was traveling eastbound on the north side sidewalk and approaching the same driveway area at the time of the accident.
A 9 year old boy was pronounced dead following the collision.
A 13 year old was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Troopers spent several hours documenting and reconstructing the scene.
The accident remains under investigation.
