Belle Glade, FL.- Three people were killed after an overturned pickup truck was found submerged in a roadside canal Tuesday morning in Belle Glade.
The incident was reported at approximately 7:20 a.m. on July 14 along Gator Boulevard after a 911 caller reported seeing a vehicle in the water.
Officials said the caller did not witness the pickup truck entering the canal, and it remains unclear how long the vehicle had been submerged before it was discovered.
When emergency crews arrived, only the truck’s wheels were visible above the water in the narrow canal.
Dive teams searched the vehicle and the surrounding water before paramedics pronounced three people dead at the scene.
The identities of the victims have not been released.
After the recovery operation was completed, the scene was turned over to investigators, who are working to determine how the pickup truck entered the canal.
