Troopers said a 54 year old North Port woman was killed after a rollover accident Saturday morning on Interstate 275 near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge in Manatee County.
Manatee County, FL.- A 54 year old North Port woman was killed following an accident Saturday morning in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. on July 12 on Interstate 275 near mile marker 5, just east of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge.
Troopers said the woman was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound in the left lane when she accelerated into the right lane to pass a 2025 Chevrolet Suburban. She then abruptly veered back into the left lane, cutting off the Suburban and striking its right front.
The Suburban traveled onto the inside grass shoulder and struck a guardrail.
Investigators said the Tahoe driver overcorrected to the right, causing the vehicle to rotate onto the outside grass shoulder where it overturned multiple times. The woman was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Suburban, a 28 year old Palmetto man, and his passengers, one adult and three children, were not injured in the accident.
No additional information about the identity of the woman has been released.
The accident remains under investigation.
