Albuquerque, N.M. – A bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle on Saturday morning in Albuquerque.
According to the Albuquerque Police Department, the accident occurred near Central Avenue and Maple at around 6:15 a.m.
A vehicle reportedly turned eastbound from Sycamore Street Southeast onto Central Avenue Southeast struck a bicyclist.
The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital but did not survive his injuries.
The driver of the car was arrested after officers at the scene found an open container of alcohol in his car.
He was charged with vehicular homicide, violation of open container laws, unsafe passing on the left side and failure to yield right-of-way.
