27-Year-Old Sarasota Man Dies in Accident After Tire Blowout on I-75 in Sarasota County

The man was operating a 2006 Ford sedan southbound on the Interstate 75 entrance ramp from Clark Road when the car had a tire blowout. The sedan entered the path of a southbound 2000 Peterbilt semi-truck with a trailer heading in the right lane of I-75.

Sarasota Man Dies After Vehicle Crash After Tire Blowout on I-75 near Mile Marker 205 in Sarasota County

Sarasota County, FL. – A 27-year-old Sarasota man was killed after a tire blow out caused a traffic collision on Thursday morning in Sarasota County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at about 6:53 a.m. on June 18, on southbound1-75 near Mile Marker 205 at the Clark Road interchange.

The man was operating a 2006 Ford sedan southbound on the Interstate 75 entrance ramp from Clark Road when the car had a tire blowout. The sedan entered the path of a southbound 2000 Peterbilt semi-truck with a trailer heading in the right lane of I-75.

The semi driver, a 48-year-old man from Hialeah, tried to avoid the crash by moving into the center lane but couldn’t avoid the accident.

The front of the semi hit the left side of the sedan and caused the truck to rotate counterclockwise and roll over in the grass median.

The two drivers were taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital in a severe condition. The sedan driver was declared dead at the hospital at 11:30 a.m.

No additional information concerning the collision was provided.

The incident remains under investigation.
