Deputies said a man was struck by an SUV driving in the inside southbound lane while he was crossing the highway.

Jacksonville, FL. – A man was killed after a pedestrian accident on Tuesday night in Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred at around 9:40 p.m. on June 16, on Philips Highway.
Deputies said a man was struck by an SUV driving in the inside southbound lane while he was crossing the highway.
The man was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a while after arriving.
The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The driver told officials they did not see the man because it was raining heavily at the time.
It was unclear if the man was in a crosswalk at the time.
An investigation is underway.
