Police said an IDOT Emergency Traffic Patrol (ETP) truck was stopped on the interstate with its emergency lights on to assist a disabled car. A Kia sedan then lost control and hit the IDOT truck pushing the truck forward into the disabled car.

Chicago, IL. – An Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) worker was injured after a traffic collision early Sunday morning in Chicago.
According to the Illinois State Police, the accident occurred a while before 2:00 a.m. on June 14 on southbound Interstate 94 near 37th Street.
Police said an IDOT Emergency Traffic Patrol (ETP) truck was stopped on the interstate with its emergency lights on to assist a disabled car. A Kia sedan then lost control and hit the IDOT truck pushing the truck forward into the disabled car.
The IDOT worker was standing outside their car at the time.
The IDOT worker and the Kia driver sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital.
All traffic lanes were shut down to give way to an on-scene investigation. The roadway reopened at about 6:30 a.m.
An investigation is underway.
