Stuart, FL. – A man was killed after a traffic collision on Tuesday morning in Stuart, according to the Martin County Fire Rescue.

The accident happened at about 6:30 a.m. on June 9 on Southeast Monterey Road at Atlantic Tire.

Officials said a 24-year-old tire technician was guiding an elderly customer operating a truck into the service bay when the crash occurred. The truck drove onto a drive-on car lift when it suddenly lunged forward in unclear circumstances and pinned the technician against a wall in the tire shop.

The worker was declared dead at the crash site.

Police said the victim was not alone at the shop, and the car did not malfunction, but it lift itself.

The driver stayed at the crash site and was cooperative.

Police and OSHA are investigating the workplace accident.
