Citrus County, FL. – One individual was killed and two others were hurt after a traffic collision on Friday afternoon in Citrus County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at about 1 p.m. on June 5 on US-19.

Troopers said a Chevy Silverado was heading southbound on US-19 when it lost control south of West Merrivale Lane and entered the outside shoulder.

The driver overcorrected, crossed both the southbound lane and the center median. The Chevy then drove into the northbound lanes, where it crashed into a northbound GMC Savana truck nearly head-on.

The GMC driver was declared dead at the crash site.

The Chevy driver and their passenger were hospitalized with severe injuries.
