Portland, OR. – One person was hospitalized after a fiery collision on Thursday morning in Portland, according to the Portland Police Department.

The accident happened at around 8:45 a.m. on May 28 on southbound I-5 near milepost 297 and Southwest Terwilliger Boulevard.

Police said a pickup truck crashed into the right-side jersey barrier and burst into flames. Bystanders performed CPR on the driver before emergency crews arrived.

The driver sustained burns and was rushed to Emanuel Hospital. Their current condition was not known.

Police blocked southbound lanes following the collision. All the lanes were reopened by 10:40 a.m.

An investigation is underway.
