Oak Forest, IL. – A Tinley Park bicyclist, an 18-year-old girl, was killed after a crash last week on Thursday evening in Oak Forest, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The accident occurred at about 6:38 p.m. on May 14, at the 159th Street and Ridgeland Avenue intersection.

Deputies said a bicyclist was exiting the bike lane when she entered the roadway and was hit by a westbound motor vehicle on 159th Street.

The teen bicyclist was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in a critical condition. She was declared dead at the hospital on May 15 at 5:52 p.m. 

Information concerning the vehicle driver, a 76-year-old man from Tinley Park, was not provided.

An investigation is underway.
