The rider succumbed to their injuries at the scene
Elkhart County, IN. – A 57-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a suspected DUI crash on Thursday afternoon in Elkhart County.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened on US 20 near County Road 43 at around 3:42 p.m.
A vehicle driven by an 18-year-old man was traveling westbound on US 20 behind other vehicles when a vehicle in front of the 18-year-old man tried to turn left onto CR 43. The man tried to pass both vehicles by going off-road.
The driver re-entered the roadway, lost control and struck a motorcyclist.
The rider succumbed to their injuries at the scene.
The 18-year-old driver was found to be under the influence of cannabis and was booked into to Elkhart County Jail for a Level 4 Felony charge.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
