Police said a 2026 Hyundai Sonata was heading northbound on Skokie Valley Road when it hit a 2006 Toyota Sienna that was turning southbound onto Skokie Valley from westbound Park.

Highland Park, IL. – A 73-year-old woman from Wilmette and a 21-month-old infant from Lake County were killed after a traffic accident on Saturday night in Highland Park.
According to the Highland Park Police Department the accident occurred at around 3:02 p.m. on May 16 at the Route 41 and Park Avenue West intersection.
Police said a 2026 Hyundai Sonata was heading northbound on Skokie Valley Road when it hit a 2006 Toyota Sienna that was turning southbound onto Skokie Valley from westbound Park.
The Toyota driver, a 73-year-old female, was freed from her vehicle. She was declared dead at the crash site.
A 21-year-month-old boy in the Hyundai, who was in a car seat in the rear passenger of the vehicle also suffered life threatening injuries. He was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office Monday autopsy results reportedly revealed the victims died from blunt force injuries.
Route 41 was closed for hours to give way to an on-scene investigation.
An investigation by the MCAT and the Highland Park Police Department is underway.
