Police said a blue Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by a 75-year-old man of Klamath Falls was heading westbound on South 6th Street when it veered into the turn lane for reasons still under investigation. The Jeep then clipped the driver side of a westbound silver Chevrolet Silverado operated by a 45-year-old man of Klamath Falls.

Klamath Falls, OR. – One person was killed after a multi-car accident on Thursday afternoon in Klamath Falls, according to Oregon State Police.
The accident happened at 4:33 p.m. on May 14, on Highway 39 near Milepost 4 (South 6th Street).
Police said a blue Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by a 75-year-old man of Klamath Falls was heading westbound on South 6th Street when it veered into the turn lane for reasons still under investigation. The Jeep then clipped the driver side of a westbound silver Chevrolet Silverado operated by a 45-year-old man of Klamath Falls.
The Jeep then drove into the eastbound travel lane and crashed head-on into an eastbound white Toyota Tundra driven by a 33-year-old man of Klamath Falls.
The Jeep driver was declared dead at the crash site.
The operator of the Toyota was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The Chevrolet driver was not hurt in the accident.
The highway was closed for around 3.5 hours to give way to an on-scene investigation.
The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon Department of Transportation, and the Klamath County Fire District 1 assisted the OSP at the scene.
An investigation is underway.
