Deputies said a school bus was heading east on Highway 40 when he tried to turn left on Southeast 117th Avenue.

Silver Springs, FL. – One person was killed and another injured after a traffic collision on Wednesday afternoon in Silver Springs, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred at about 3:00 p.m. on May 6, on Highway 40.
Deputies said a school bus was heading east on Highway 40 when he tried to turn left on Southeast 117th Avenue.
The bus did not yield to an oncoming pickup truck towing a trailer and the two crashed head-on.
The pickup truck driver sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Four Maplewood Elementary School students were in the bus at the time of the accident. No one on the bus was injured.
Authorities closed Highway 40 between Southeast 117th Avenue and Southeast 183rd Court.
No additional information concerning this crash was provided.
