1 Killed in Crash on Highway 20 near Milepost 21 in Linn County

Troopers said a white Jeep Wrangler operated by a 30-year-old woman of Sweet Home was heading westbound on Highway 20 when it crossed into the eastbound lane and hit a black Kia Forte driven by a 69-year-old woman of Sweet Home head-on.

Linn County, OR. – One person was killed after a two-vehicle accident on Saturday evening in Linn County, according to the Oregon State Police.

The accident occurred at 5:44 p.m. on May 2, on Highway 20 near milepost 21.

Troopers said a white Jeep Wrangler operated by a 30-year-old woman of Sweet Home was heading westbound on Highway 20 when it crossed into the eastbound lane and hit a black Kia Forte driven by a 69-year-old woman of Sweet Home head-on.

The Kia driver was thrown out of the car and was declared dead at the crash site.

The Jeep driver was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries. She was released from the hospital and arrested for second-degree manslaughter. She was booked at the Linn County Jail.

The Jeep Wrangler driver was reportedly driving recklessly prior to the accident.

Traffic delays were experienced in the area for around four hours following the crash.

 The Lebanon Fire Department and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted the OSP at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
