Decatur, IL. – An 82-year-old passenger was severely hurt after a two-vehicle accident on Thursday afternoon in Decatur.

According to the Decatur Police Department, the accident occurred at North 24th and East Eldorado streets on April 2 a while before 2:30 p.m.

Police said a sedan was heading east on Eldorado with a green light at N 24th while an SUV traveling west on Eldorado turned south onto 24th with a green light. The SUV did not yield when turning left and crashed into the sedan.

The 82-year-old SUV driver sustained non-life threatening injuries while its elderly passenger was transported to the hospital with critical life-threatening injuries. The sedan driver and its 6-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries due to the collision.

Police said the involved drivers did not show any sign of influence.
