The driver was not impaired, but was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian

Tucson, AZ. – Two pedestrians died after being struck by a vehicle in Tucson on Thursday afternoon, according to the Tucson Police Department.
The accident occurred at the intersection of East 29th Street and South Rosemont Avenue as the victims were crossing the street in a marked crosswalk equipped with a HAWK beacon.
Preliminary reports indicate both victims, a 71-year-old Tucson woman and a 60-year-old Tucson woman, were crossing the street when they were hit by a vehicle traveling through the intersection.
The driver remained at the scene following the collision.
Authorities confirmed that the driver was not impaired, but was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
