Peoria, AZ. – A Phoenix man was killed in a rear-end collision in Peoria on Monday morning, according to the police.

The fatal collision happened around 11:45 a.m. on March 16 on State Route 74 near 87th Avenue.

Peoria Police Department said a dump truck was traveling eastbound on the highway when it rear-ended a white Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The dump truck rolled over after the collision and overturned onto its passenger side.

The accident resulted in a chain-reaction involving four vehicles. The Jeep spun into oncoming traffic and collided with a westbound black Ford Expedition.

The Jeep driver, a 54-year-old Phoenix man, was taken to the hospital where he later died.

His passenger, a 17-year-old girl, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

One of the other drivers was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The dump truck driver was uninjured, remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

The Peoria Police Traffic Services Unit is investigating the accident.
