Troopers said a Madison County Fire Rescue truck was traveling north on SE CR-255 to respond to a fire possibly caused by a lightning strike. At the same time, a semi-truck hauling a flatbed trailer was heading west on US Highway 90.

Madison County, FL. – Two firefighters were injured after a traffic collision involving a fire truck and an 18-wheeler on Monday afternoon in Lee, Madison County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at around 1:50 p.m. on March 16, on E US Highway 90 at NE CR-255.
Troopers said a Madison County Fire Rescue truck was traveling north on SE CR-255 to respond to a fire possibly caused by a lightning strike. At the same time, a semi-truck hauling a flatbed trailer was heading west on US Highway 90. The two vehicles collided at the intersection of E US Highway 90 and NE CR-255.
The firetruck rolled over while the semi crashed into a utility pole following the crash.
Two firefighters were rushed to the hospital with severe injuries.
The two semi occupants suffered minor injuries and were treated and released at the scene by Madison County Fire Rescue.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Rescue assisted the FHP at the scene.
An investigation is underway.
