Police said the pedestrian and the dog were running east across Illinois Route 159 when they were hit by a northbound vehicle.

Caseyville, IL. – A pedestrian was killed, dog hurt after a pedestrian accident on Saturday night in Caseyville, according to the Illinois State Police.
The accident occurred a while before 9:00 p.m. on March 6, on Illinois Route 159 near Hollywood Heights Road.
Police said the pedestrian and the dog were running east across Illinois Route 159 when they were hit by a northbound vehicle.
The pedestrian was declared dead at the crash site.
The dog was rushed to an emergency veterinarian for treatment of injuries.
The involved driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police closed northbound Illinois Route 159 to give way to an on-scene investigation. The lanes reopened at around 1:00 a.m. on Sunday
