54-Year-Old Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on State Road 97 in Escambia County

Escambia County, FL. – A 54-year-old motorcyclist from Baldwin County was killed after a motorcycle accident on Saturday night in Escambia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred on State Road 97 at around 7:15 p.m. on March 6.

Troopers said the motorcyclist was heading north on State Road 97 while a pickup truck was heading south on State Road 97. The motorcycle entered the southbound lane and the front part of the motorbike and truck crashed.

The two vehicles ran off the roadway onto the shoulder of the roadway after the crash.

The rider was declared dead at the crash site.

The truck driver, a 63-year-old man from Milton, Florida, sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Authorities closed down State Road 97 in both directions following the crash. The roadway has since reopened.

An investigation is underway.
