Woman and Child Struck and Injured by Vehicle on East Illinois Street in Streeterville

65-Year-Old Woman and 5-Year-Old Child Injured in Pedestrian Accident on East Illinois Street in Streeterville

Streeterville, IL. – A 65-year-old woman and a 5-year-old child were injured following a pedestrian accident on Sunday afternoon in the Streeterville neighborhood.

According to the Chicago Police Department, the accident happened a while after 1:15 p.m. on March 8 in the 400-block of East Illinois Street.

Police said the two pedestrians were trying to cross the junction when they were hit by a Toyota minivan.

The woman sustained head and neck injuries and was rushed to Northwestern Hospital in a critical condition.

The child sustained lower body injuries and was taken to Lurie Children’s Hospital. The child was treated and released.

The minivan driver, a 53-year-old man, was not hurt in the collision. He was taken to Northwestern Hospital for evaluation and was later released.

Police issued him a citation.

No additional details regarding this crash were provided.

An investigation by the CPD’s Major Auto Accident detectives is underway.
