North Chicago, IL. – Five people were hospitalized after a two-vehicle accident on Monday evening in North Chicago, according to the North Chicago Police Department and North Chicago Fire Department.

The accident occurred at about 9:20 p.m. on March 2, on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Dickey Avenue.

Police said a compact vehicle and a mid-size sedan were involved in the accident. The two vehicles sustained significant damage following the crash.

Five ambulances arrived at the scene to transport five people to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Debris and a light pole were scattered all around Martin Luther King Jr. Drive following the collision.

An investigation is underway.
