Polk County, OR. – One person was killed and two others were injured in a collision involving a school bus on Monday morning in Polk County, according to the police.

The fatal collision happened around 9:51 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 22 and Highway 51.

Police said a Salem-Keizer Thomas school bus was traveling westbound on Hwy 22 and was turning left onto southbound Highway 51 when it collided with an eastbound Honda Pilot.

The Honda driver, a 68-year-old Independence man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The school bus driver, a 33-year-old from Turner, was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
