Peoria, AZ. – One person was killed and another was injured after a vehicle rolled down a driveway on Tuesday morning in north Peoria, according to the police.
The fatal collision happened around 10:30 a.m. on February 24 near the intersection of Vistancia Road and El Mirage Road.
Police said two people inside a Toyota RAV4 arrived at a home and exited the vehicle.
The passenger, a 78-year-old man, walked behind the vehicle to talk with a neighbor. The driver leaned back into the vehicle to turn it off, and moments later the vehicle rolled backward down the driveway and hit the passenger and the neighbor.
The passenger was pinned underneath the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The neighbor sustained minor injuries in the accident.
The driver was uninjured and cooperated with the investigators.
Police are investigating the accident.
