Phoenix, AZ. – Two people were hospitalized after a motorcycle and a vehicle collided early Sunday morning near the Phoenix-Glendale border, according to Glendale police.

The crash occurred at the intersection of 83rd Avenue and Camelback Road just after 2 a.m.

Authorities said the motorcycle, which was carrying two riders, ran a red light and struck the side of a vehicle that was traveling through the intersection with a green light.

According to a spokesperson with Phoenix Fire, a man and a woman were transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

In an update, Glendale police confirmed that the motorcycle driver suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive. The cause of the crash was attributed to the motorcycle running the red light.

The collision caused disruptions in the surrounding area as emergency crews responded and worked to clear the scene.

Glendale police said the crash remains under investigation.
