Coos County, OR. – One person was killed and another was injured in Wednesday morning car accident near Lakeside, according to the police.

The fatal collision happened around 6:09 a.m. on Highway 101 near milepost 223.

Police said a 30-year-old man from St. George, Utah, was driving a white Ford F-150 towing a flatbed trailer northbound on the highway when he hit black ice.

He lost control, hit the guardrail, crossed into the southbound lane, and collided with a tan Chevy Tracker driven by a 64-year-old Lakeside man.

The flatbed was then rear-ended by a blue Dodge 1500 pickup driven by a 24-year-old man from Coos Bay.

The driver of the Chevy Tracker died at the scene.

The driver of the flatbed sustained minor injuries.

The driver of the Dodge was unhurt.

Police are investigating the accident.
