Davie, FL. – Two drivers were injured following a traffic collision involving a tanker truck on Wednesday morning in Davie, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred on westbound I-595, east of Davie Road on February 11.
Troopers said a tanker truck ferrying fuel rear ended a van before overturning onto its side. 4, 000 gallons of fuel were reportedly spilled on the highway following the collision.
A semi-truck tried to swerve to avoid the crash, and it ended up striking the tanker and another car.
Two drivers were transported to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Traffic was diverted onto US 441 and drivers asked to avoid the area.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office fire technical rescue attempted to stop the fuel leak which had reached the drainage system.
The Florida Highway Patrol Commercial Vehicle Enforcement were also called to the scene.
No additional details regarding the crash were provided.
