Bicyclist Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident at Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota

Officials said a car was heading west on Bee Ridge Road when the front of the car hit the man cycling his bicycle near the east side of the intersection.

Sarasota, FL. – A 27-year-old man from Sarasota was critically hurt after a hit-and-run bicycle collision on Thursday at an intersection in Sarasota.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident happened on February 5th at Bee Ridge Road and McIntosh Road.

Officials said a car was heading west on Bee Ridge Road when the front of the car hit the man cycling his bicycle near the east side of the intersection.

The male bicyclist was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.

A witness reported seeing a black a black 2012-2015 Nissan Altima or Maxima with a damaged windshield and significant front-end damage at a high rate of speed.

The incident remains under investigation.
