Lake Wales, FL. – Four people were killed after a multi-vehicle accident on Wednesday afternoon in Lake Wales, Polk County, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident occurred a while after 4:00 p.m. on February 4th on State Road 60 East at Capps Road.
Deputies said five vehicles crashed. Authorities said one car hit another vehicle in the westbound lanes of SR 60, causing it to swerve over into the eastbound lanes in front of two other cars.
11 people were involved in the accident. Four people were killed in the crash.
Seven persons were transported to the hospital for treatment.
SR 60 was shut down and drivers asked to use alternative routes following the collision.
