22-Year-Old Sustains Fatal Injuries After Vehicle Crash on South Lewis Avenue in Waukegan

Waukegan, IL. – A 22-year-old man from Oklahoma was killed after a traffic accident on Monday evening in Waukegan, according to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

The accident happened at about 6:31 p.m. on January 26, in the 1100 block of South Lewis Avenue.

Deputies said the man was heading southbound on Lewis Avenue when the vehicle left the roadway and slammed through a fence and into the trees. A fence pole went through the windshield and hit the driver. 

The man was the only individual in the vehicle. He was declared dead at the crash site.

An autopsy showed that the man sustained blunt force injuries to his head as a result of the collision.

An investigation by the Waukegan Police is underway.
