The minivan driver was transported to the hospital with a minor head injury

Elkhart County, IN. – A 17-year-old boy was killed in a head-on collision on Sunday night in Elkhart County.
According to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened around 9:42 p.m. at State Road 13 and County Route 38.
A van was travelling northbound on State Road 13 when it slid on the ice into the path of a southbound 2020 Freightliner Cascadia 126, resulting in a head-on collision.
A 17-year-old boy who was a passenger in the minivan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The minivan driver was transported to the hospital with a minor head injury.
The driver of the 2020 Freightliner was unhurt.
It is believed that weather conditions played a role in the crash.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
