The rider and a passenger on the motorcycle, identified only as a Tucson teen and a Tucson man, were pronounced dead at the scene

Tucson, AZ. – Two people were killed following a crash involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle Monday night in Tucson, according to the Tucson Police Department.
The fatal collision occurred at the intersection of East 22nd Street and South Country Club Road on the night of January 5.
Investigators determined that a dirt bike was traveling eastbound on 22nd Street as it approached Country Club Road when a Kia SUV, traveling westbound, attempted to make a left turn onto southbound Country Club Road and crossed directly into the path of the motorcycle, resulting in a collision.
The rider and a passenger on the motorcycle, identified only as a Tucson teen and a Tucson man, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Kia was not injured and was evaluated by an impaired driving enforcement officer, who determined the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Police said the cause of the crash remains under investigation, with detectives focusing on a possible failure to yield by the SUV driver and the dirt bike’s lack of an operable headlamp during nighttime conditions.
Authorities are also working to determine the status of the traffic signals at the time of the accident.
No citations or charges have been issued, and the accident remains under investigation.
