Escambia County, FL. – Two persons were injured following a two-vehicle accident on Friday afternoon in Escambia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The collision occurred at about 2:00 p.m. December 12, on U.S. Highway 29 (North Century Boulevard) and Molino Road.

Troopers said a red Lexus SUV ran the red light while a Chevrolet SUV was turning left in the area. The two vehicles ultimately collided.

The Lexus driver, an 86-year-old man, and a 73-year-old female passenger sustained critical injuries due to the collision. The passenger was airlifted while the driver was transported by EMS to the hospital.

The Chevrolet occupants were hospitalized with minor injuries.

Troopers closed Highway 29 for a while following the collision. The roadway has since re-opened.

An investigation is underway.
