Linn County, OR – One person was killed after a motorcycle crashed off the roadway near Bellinger Scale Road Friday evening, according to the Linn County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash occurred around 6:37 p.m. on Nov. 29 near the 32200 block of Bellinger Scale Road outside Lebanon.
Authorities reported that a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle, operated by a 53-year-old Sweet Home resident, left the roadway while negotiating a corner, traveled approximately 190 feet into a ditch, and struck a small tree in a nearby yard. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle during the crash.
Emergency personnel from the Lebanon Fire District arrived at the scene, but the rider was pronounced dead on-site. Preliminary reports indicate that alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the crash.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Lebanon Fire District and the Linn County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The incident remains under investigation.
