Gila County, AZ – Two people were killed following a head-on traffic collision on State Route 188 in Gila County Tuesday last week, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The two-vehicle crash happened around 6 a.m. on March 4 on SR 188 near Jakes Corner, just east of the Beeline Highway intersection. DPS said the deadly incident happened in a no-passing zone.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety confirmed two people died in the collision.
According to DPS, a silver Toyota traveling southbound on 188 crossed the median and collided head-on with a yellow Volkswagen vehicle. Both drivers were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected following the collision.
The two drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
No additional information is available.
The crash remains under investigation.
