Daytona Beach, FL – Three students were hit and injured after a driver ran a red light at an intersection near the main entrance of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Monday, according to Daytona Beach Fire Department.

The pedestrian accident happened at the intersection of South Clyde Morris Boulevard and Richard Petty Boulevard on March 17.

Authorities said the three students were walking across the street in a marked crosswalk when an SUV, operated by a 79-year-old driver, ran a red light and struck them.

The Volusia County Emergency Medical Services transported the three university students to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No additional details regarding the accident were provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
