Manatee County, FL – A 25-year-old motorcycle rider was killed in a Thursday morning crash on Highway 70 in Myakka City.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the mishap happened just before 7 a.m. on State Road 70 East near Brendle Road.
A Chevrolet Silverado, pulling a trailer, and a motorcycle were traveling in the westbound lanes, approaching a driveway leading to an RV business.
The pickup then slowed down to turn onto the driveway when the motorcycle entered the eastbound lanes in an attempt to pass slower traffic and collided with the front of the pickup as it began to turn onto the driveway.
The rider whose name was not immediately disclosed, died at the scene.
No additional information about the collision was reported.
An investigation is underway.
