The driver of the Acadia had to be extricated from the vehicle before being airlifted to the hospital for treatment

Tippecanoe County, IN. – Two people were injured in a multi-vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon in Tippecanoe County.

According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened around 3:40 p.m. at State Road 26 and County Road 550 E.

Seven vehicles were involved in the collision. A 2024 Toyota Crown was traveling west on State Road 26 when the driver veered to the left and clipped the mirror of another westbound vehicle that had been stopped at the intersection in the left turn lane.

The Toyota entered the intersection and struck a southbound 2017 Dodge Caravan that was making a left turn from County Road 550 E. The Toyota proceeded and broadsided a 2014 GMC Acadia, sending it into an eastbound 2019 Dodge Ram pickup that was stopped at the intersection.

The 2019 Dodge Ram ended up crashing into a 2020 Dodge Ram that was also stopped at the intersection, while the Acadia hit an eastbound 2009 Subaru that had been stopped on State Road 26.

The driver of the Acadia had to be extricated from the vehicle before being airlifted to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Toyota Crown was also injured in the accident and was taken to IU Health Arnett Hospital.

More details about the accident were not released.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
