17-Year-Old Sustains Injuries After Car Crash on State Road 121 in Union City

Union County, FL. – A 17-year-old boy was killed and two others severely injured after a traffic collision on Friday afternoon in Union County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on February 27, on State Road 121 at Southwest 79th Trail.

Troopers said a green Ford pickup truck was traveling south on State Road 121 behind a black Ford. The black SUV slowed down to turn left but the driver of the green pickup  did not slow down and crashed into the black SUV’s rear. The impact sent the vehicle into oncoming northbound traffic. A semi-truck heading north on State Road 121 and then crashed into the right side of the black SUV before overturning.

The SUV driver, a 17-year-old boy from Lake Butler, was killed in the collision. He was reportedly wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Troopers said the green pickup rested on the east shoulder of the roadway where it burst into flames.

The pickup truck and the semi-truck driver were taken to the hospital with severe injuries.
