
Coles County, IL. – One person was killed after a multi-vehicle accident on Thursday morning in Coles County, according to the Lincoln Fire Protection District.
The accident occurred at 8:34 a.m. on January 29, on I-57.
Officials said multi-vehicles including two semi-trucks, a tanker trailer and two passenger vehicles crashed in unclear circumstances.
The tanker truck was hauling sugar water. Authorities said there were no hazardous materials involved.
One person was killed in the crash.
One of the semi-truck drivers needed to be freed from the cab of his truck.
Two people were transported to the hospital, one flown while the other transported by ground ambulance.
The roadway was closed for a few hours and traffic diverted off the highway at Exit 192 following the collision.
An investigation is underway.
