Columbus, Ohio — October 12, 2025: Authorities identified TaShawn Davis, age 18, as the man shot and killed by officers with the Columbus Division of Police following an alleged armed robbery attempt and foot pursuit near 1444 North High Street in the University District.
According to police, officers were flagged down by two individuals who claimed that a man had pointed a gun at them in a possible robbery attempt. Officers located Davis, who reportedly matched the suspect’s description, and allege that he fled on foot when approached. Police state that Davis was armed during the pursuit and refused commands to stop and show his hands. Officers then fired, fatally striking him. The listed cause of death is gunshot. The investigation remains pending.
Authorities later confirmed the incident occurred near The Ohio State University campus. Body camera footage from the involved officers has been released as part of the ongoing investigation. Officials noted that Davis appeared to be under the influence at the time of the encounter.
