Port Charlotte Man Killed in Punta Gorda Crash with Semi-Truck on I-75 at Tucker Grade Exit

The collision happened after 3:30 p.m. Friday on Interstate 75 at the Tucker Grade exit.

Charlotte County, TX – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly 2-vehicle crash that left a 28-year-old Port Charlotte dead in Punta Gorda Friday afternoon.

The collision happened after 3:30 p.m. Friday on Interstate 75 at the Tucker Grade exit.

FHP said the 28-year-old man was operating a Lexus and attempted an unsafe lane change from the outside lane into the center lane as he approached a semi-truck.

According to the highway patrol, the front right of the Lexus struck the rear left tire and axle of the semi-truck.

As a result, the Lexus rolled over several times before coming to a stop on the west grass shoulder.

The Port Charlotte man was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the semi was not hurt in the incident.

The crash remains under investigation.
